Chapter 5 (Requisition)

<$BlogDateHeaderDate$> |2:35:00 AM

“LIZ, WHY ARE YOU HERE?!” Efferet threatened as he yanked my shoulders hard.

“Shouldn’t I be the one asking you, instead?” I yelled, struggling to break loose from

his grip.

He shook his head, and shot back with an intent look at Ace.

“Alright, you shouldn’t be here! Let’s go! I’ll get you out!” He seized my arm, dragging

me along with him once again.

“Wait! Don’t you want to explain yourself?” I cried as I broke hold of his hands from

mine.

“Don’t you understand?! Why must you be stuck with a SCOUNDREL, being his

dupe?” Efferet exclaimed.

I was totally discombobulated. Why were they in abhorrence? Had they met in school

before? Why was I not cognizant about this? Everything was in intricacy!

It didn’t make any sense to me at that instant.

“WHAT? Could you just stop and explain yourself for being so tempestuous?” I

demanded.

He narrowed his eyes when Ace snapped.

“Don’t incriminate me for nothing, YOU, MONGREL! I’ve done nothing wrong this

time round and don’t you dare butt in my business!”

“YEAH? Stop all your poppycock down here, when everyone in the world knows what

the hell you’re up to; with your entire flirtatious plot to deceive her into YOUR pool of

susceptible victims!” Efferet smeared.

“And besides, she’s my business! You’re not going to lay a finger on her, scheming

Scamp!”

I could subdue my anger no more. I flared before Ace could blow.

“Shut up! What is going on down here? Can anyone clarify something? And Efferet…”

I turned to face him.

“I’m not your business! (Sigh) You have some other businesses to commit and I’m

not pertinent to be one of them. I can call my own shots.”

Ace smirked. I directed my vision to him.

“And Ace, even though you’re a nice guy and I really don’t know what the hell is going

on between you and Efferet, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll go with you either.” I said

calmly.

“Look, Liz…” Ace called.

“WHAT! He’s using the nick that I gave you?!” Efferet interrupted with an agitated

tone.

“Efferet, there’s no limitations to whatever anyone wants to address me alright; you

don’t have a say in here!” I rebuked.

“And Ace, I don’t wanna meddle with your business either, there’s nothing to do with

me. I don’t want to know what’s going on between you and him too.” I pointed to

Efferet.

Ace’s expression changed to a heartrending look, and so did him.

I gave him my last stare and dropped off, when dejection dominated me, complying

with sheds of teardrops.

The only safest place I could think of was to return to Alison and get her to send me

home.

I knew that immerging myself in an abdication state will not do any good to anyone,

but that was the only fastest method to get rid of.

Thus, I pleaded Alison and Zena for an early departure, and they probably knew what

had happened.

When I got in the car, Efferet came dashing out onto the road with Ace following

closely behind him.

Chapter 4 (Infatuation)

<$BlogDateHeaderDate$> |4:30:00 AM

We started our conversations with the two new yet outstanding guys. To my surprise,

they were my school seniors but have never met them in my high school life before.

They were pretty affable and I totally befitted well, to be pliant in such circumstances.

“I’m beginning to feel stuffy in here, and the ventilation is getting worse. Do you want

to take a breather?” Ace placed his fingers next to my ear and spoke loudly, trying to

overcome the deafening background music.

“Yes, it’s too noisy in here.” I routed to acknowledge.

He stood up gentlemanly beside and offered his right hand to me, so I took it with a

smile. We chew the rag a little while strolling alongside a little fountain with water

overflowing from the top of this pineapple-look-alike structure. We stopped by this

little scanty looking hut with ruins of walls all around, that positioned right behind

Zena’s residence. Its lights were faint, as if they might go off any moment.

He was the next person other than Efferet who could make me feel utterly

comfortable to be with. We could jest around with each other like nobody’s business.

“Liz, oh wait, can I call you that? I just don’t want both of us to be so..so… distant.”

He suggested, raising his right brow as if he was waiting anxiously for my answer.

“Oh sure, no problem! You’re the only person who calls me that other than…” I

stopped myself abruptly. I did not want to recall his name as I wanted to put my

heartache behind my mind.

“My best friend,” I swallowed hard as though a lump was in my throat.

“Ok, great! This is what I’ll name you in future! And you know what? You’re the

sweetest girl I’ve ever met. This is for real, I’m not kidding.” He gave a huge grin.

I could sense red gushing fast to my face, pumping additional blood for it. Am I

blushing? Oh god! No one has ever complimented me like this before, not my parents

and not even “him”! Why am I feeling like this?

“Oh..oh..thanks. You’re the first.” I whispered, trying to catch my breath.

He neared me as he held my head up towards him with both hands, and directed his

eyes into mine. I held my breath.

“I did nothing; I’m just stating what I think it is.” His lips were marked by an upward

curving.

He blinded me with his charisma at that instant. I was lost. My heart was thumping

excessively and there was an urge to get myself some air so that I could breathe.

Hence, I gently pushed him away.

“Er..thanks anyway! You’re a nice and fun guy too!” I added quickly, trying to distract

us from where we were.

He straightened his back and smiled again.

“I knew that, many were saying the same,” he responded as if to a trite remark.

“By the way, how old are you?” I asked.

“Just a year older than you do. He answered.

“And what about your hobbies?” He raised the question.

“Diving! I do sky diving as well!” I exclaimed. “How about you?”

“Wow, amazing! Can’t judge a book by its cover, huh?” He teased.

“I’m a musician. I write violin concertos and I major in Violin.”

I gaped at him with my eyes widen and my jaw dropped. I was totally flabbergasted.

Who in the world writes concertos? I’ve only known renowned people during the

classical, renaissance and baroque periods; Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, etc. Oh My

God! I’ve met this one in a zillion gifted and talented man!

“Are…are…you..sure?! Wow! That’s paranormal! You’re gifted with music?” I gasped.

“Not exactly. I started practicing way earlier than anyone did. I often listen to

prominent pieces from outstanding musicians and take down momentous notes.

That’s how I progress.” He grinned.

“Are you a teenage prodigy?!” I blurted.

He burst out laughing and later on I found myself giggling along with him despite my

confusion state.

“You’re really adorable and I’m starting to be fond of you!” He continued laughing

while I flushed again.

Without any warning, he cut off his laughter and glowered across my shoulders. I

turned to my astonishment, finding Efferet with his antagonistic expression and

standing just two feet behind me.

They exchanged black looks.

Chapter 3 (Poignant)

<$BlogDateHeaderDate$> |12:15:00 PM

She left us alone in the ball just like that?! Despite the familiar faces around us, I

could still sense the hostility within this caged-like building. Bright lit candles by the

side of the hall, seeing deep velvet under the shade of faint copper fixtures. Soft

revolving neon lights hit the dancing crowd in the middle, reflecting moving shadows

that coordinated along, which created an alive and welcoming ambience.

"Hey Efferet!" Someone tapped him from behind.

"Oh, Branden! What's up?" Efferet was surprised by his Rugby teammate and

exchanged their usual one-hand-crossed hug.

"Nothing much though. Wanna grab some drinks? The rest are over there." Excited

by the captain's presence.

"Let's go, Liz!" Efferet grabbed my arm harshly, pulling me along to join his

teammates. I’d almost whined in pain, struggling to get out.

Knowing the fact that I did not like any of his bunch of irksome fellows, especially

when these ignorant people started prying into our affairs and made sarcastic

remarks, he would still pull me along without any persuasion of his or permission of

mine.

The irony was that they were mean towards me but they were irrefutable at times,

which made me detest them even more.

“Stop it! It hurts!” I yelled and threw his arm off mine.

We held to a stop.

“What?” He spoke in his calm tone.

“Don’t you bloody know how pain this is?! With your huge strength forcing down

onto mine?! I’m not a toy of yours! Stop doing this to me!” I cried, feeling indignant.

The flashing thoughts and past scenes of him treating me as his best friend when he

knew that I wanted him more than this were bugging my mind. My heart started

aching again.

“What have I done?!” He questioned, raising his voice a little.

“Must I state every single thing to you? Can’t you be more sensitive to my feelings?!”

I complained.

“You know how I felt, right? Why didn’t you consider me whenever you decide

anything? So, this shows how much I mean to you.” I lowered my voice, my hands

covering my face.

“What do you mean? I’ve always treated you as my best friend. You’re important to

me! Sorry if I’ve never taken your feelings into consideration, I promise this will

never happen again alright?” He asked sadly.

I could sense the hurt in him, of the words that I’ve let loose from my mouth. Did I

say something wrong or should I not suppose to say such knife-piercing remarks at

all?

I felt guilty the moment my conscience reminded me but sharp pain came

hammering on me at the same time.

“Alright, I know we’re still friends.” I lowered my head, trying to look away from his

face to avoid the constant pain.

“Liz, please don’t be like that. You know I can’t commit right now. I have my dreams

to fulfill. You know that I’ve always wanted to be the best Rugby player in the world.

You’ll be behind me right? I need you, Liz, you’re my greatest motivation!” He

explained, holding my arms with no force this time round.

What could I say? He wanted it this way. Even though it hurts me as if tons and tons

of weights are falling onto me, I could not deny the fact that I wanted him good.

“Yes, you’ll always have my support.” I said softly, still brooding about the matter.

Before Efferet could speak, our genius group of people appeared from nowhere.

“Ah, there you are Efferent and Eliza! We’ve been looking for both of you all around.”

Keane called out.

“Do you guys wanna join us?” Alison asked.

I felt relieved when I saw them, thinking that I could avoid Efferet for the time being,

at least to distract myself from the pain.

“YES! I will follow you guys. We can leave Efferet to his teammates.” I said quickly in

a sarcastic tone, dragging them away from Efferet.

He frowned.

“Alright, I will join you guys later.” Efferet shouted and walked away.

“What happened between both of you?” Mick questioned curiously.

“Nothing,” I lied.

“You’re sure about this? You can talk to us if you need. We’ll be here.” Alison

consoled.

“It’s ok, nothing serious anyway and I don’t feel comfortable bringing up that topic

again. Sorry.” I apologized.

All of them caught what I meant. They knew about this too but they have never

brought it up before with my presence because they knew as if the pain would struck

them hard in the chest.

“Let’s party then! Woo!” Keane encouraged, trying his best to distract me by his

randomness.

We walked towards these two tanned and tall guys, one in a dark grey suit and the

other in a faint pink top with dark blue stripes.

“Hey, buddies! Let me introduce to you. Ace, this is Eliza,” he pointed out to the dark

grey suit guy.

“And this is Jim.” Both of them offered their hands at the same time.

I took Ace’s hand first as he was nearer to me. He had extremely sharp and perfect

features. One of the most beautiful guys I have ever met. His thick dark brows were

angled directly above his almond-shaped chestnut brown eyes. His short hair was

spiked in a neat shape.

“Hi, I’m Ace Tillon, my honour in meeting you.” He kissed my hand and dropped it

gently. His hand was way too warm for an usual human body’s temperature. He

looked deep into my eyes and winked at them.

“Hi, I’m Eliza Kurt,” I smiled in return.

Jim was less formal. We have only exchanged a handshake. He was slightly shorter

than Ace with his black chin-length hair tucked behind his ears. He had rounder and

bigger eyes. His lip was twitched to one side.

“Hi, I’m Jim Myer.” He spoke.

“Nice meeting you,” I replied.

Chapter 2 (The Past)

<$BlogDateHeaderDate$> |4:56:00 AM

We were the best of friends ever since our first year in Saint Weden High School,

alongside a little side street of Florida City.

At times, we hanged out with a group of geniuses from our class; Zena as the pro in

Calculas, without any difficulty in solving the toughest equations; Alison with her

ability to conduct exotic science experiments and studies of the chromosones; Keane

as the outstanding astrologist; and lastly; Mick with the unique interest of studying

humans and civilisations, an anthropologist.

Efferet and I were the only two most ordinary students in the group. Occasionally,

they would tend to use jargons which totally outcast us in the group, and we would

start having our own conversation between the both of us. That was when we started

to become closer and more intimate, sometimes we couldn't explain if we were even

friends.

We would spend most of our times together almost every day. We would pop by each

other's house to get a quick glance of each other whenever there's a chance.

Sneaking out at night would be a routine for both of us, especially when there were

night party invitations at any of our friends' houses or just to even relax by ourselves

at the nearest stream in the forest, outlying from the center streets.

This wasn't just any simple tasks given by the school or even my parents, with the risk

of having to be grounded or worst of all, to be sent away to Granny Ann's house, a

spooky and creepy place in Oklahoma city, for a few months!

I would always make a pact with my brother, Jamien Kurt. So we came up with crazy

and insane ideas to get me out of the house without being caught. On a Friday night to

celebrate Zena's 17th birthday at a ball, we've saved some recordings of my soundly

asleep snores which my brother insisted on, and a small conversation in case my dad

wants to check out on me.

We have this connecting door between Jamien's and my room but we'll leave it open

only when necessary, especially in this case.

So he would be very sensitive and alert whenever dad comes into my room any point

of time during my absence, to play the recorder placed under my bed with the

handheld controller in his hands.

"So what's the deal this time round?" Jamien gave a smirk.

"What do you want? I'm warning you, not any stuff concerning the hole in my

pocket!" I whispered harshly.

"Alright, could you bring me some Magaritas back from your party? At least, if you

don't, a little wine?" He looked as if he was pleading.

"No way, that's underage drinking! You'll be caught and I'll be dead if dad finds out!

Can you please be more understanding?!" I sneered.

"Fine! Then there's no deal! I'll report this to dad!" He threatened.

"Alright! Alright! But make sure you don't be caught! I'll be back by three."

I sighed while running to the window, and climbed down clumsily with the help of a

ladder rope, without even having a glance of the expression on Jamien's face.

Efferet was already waiting impatiently for me. The moment I touched the ground, he

held me up with his arms as if I don't carry any weight. He put me down gently on the

right side of his newly bought glossy champagne-coloured Pontiac convertible.

Lights were lined up side by side from the streets that led us to this huge red building

isolating itself from the rest of the houses. Full drapes were hanging from the top to

the bottom.

When we approached, we could see crowds queuing from inside the building, many

were familiar faces.

"Oh my god! Is this a mega event or what?! Efferet exclaimed.

"I guess she must have been popular in school." I said, trying to calm myself from the

huge crowd.

Not to mention the fact that Zena is a beautiful and elegant blonde lady with well

functioning brain, the crowd was beyond expectation.

"Hi, Eliza!" Someone from the inside crowd shouted my name. I turned towards from

where the voice came from and saw a shadowy blurred figure waving crazily to me.

"Oh hi, Zena! Happy 17th Birthday!" I cried, pulling Efferet along with me. Squishing

through the crowd to where Zena was standing.

And at the same time, I felt so glad and relieved to be able to find her from the

hundreds.

"Happy Birthday, Zena," Efferet spoke in a low tone, with his hands still meddling

with his hair, afraid that it had gone out of shape after the squish.

"Thank you so much! I'm so glad both of you came! Please, make yourself at home!

I'll be with you guys in a while's time." She disappeared so fast that I didn't know

which direction she left after she made her speech.

Chapter 1 (Avoidance)

<$BlogDateHeaderDate$> |3:55:00 AM

Eliza, where have you been? I've been looking for you ever since the bell rang!"

Efferet shouted right across the hall.

My limbs started to move, so fast that I realised I was speeding when the rain came

falling hard on my face. I could not differentiate if those were my tears or the droplets from

the sky. I ran, as fast as I could to avoid him, anything and anywhere to hide myself

from him. I couldn't face him, especially right now, when I'd almost attacked him last

May.

"Stop where you are! Don't you dare run away from me anymore! I don't care who

you are, what you've become, you'll still be my one and only love!" He screamed so

loud that his voice was echoed in the lost forest.

I stopped my feet, just hiding behind a trunk as if he couldn't see me.

"Please, stop doing this to me. I'm so lost without you right now. I've lost all my focus

because of you. I really don't bother about the incident last May, it's okay baby. But

please, don't leave me alone. I just want you, right now and forever!" He pleaded.

I was stunned, I couldn't move at all. I was mouthing the words, no voice came out from

me.He wanted me? I've almost turned him into a vampire just weeks ago, he'd

forgotten about that? And he doesn't mind?!I don't know if I can control myself again,

being near him, of his sweet scent.

"Pl..e.a..se! Go..Away!" I was trying so hard just to speak, as I was controlling my

emotions. I didn't want it to take over me, especially to prevent myself from being soft-

hearted.

He didn't notice my tears, as he wiped them away, thinking that it was the rain.

"I'm not going anywhere, not without you. Even if everything in the world goes wrong,

I'll be stuck with you." He confessed.

"It's okay, don't be afraid, I'm here. We'll solve this together, alright?" He held my face up

with both hands. His hands were warm, under my cold and freezing skin.

I could feel that. His blood smelt so mouth-watering, I couldn't control myself for long. I was

starving, I've not been hunting ever since the incident.

"Efferet! Please, I'm begging you! I can't do this! I can't control myself, not anymore!" I

started pacing backwards.

Moving faster and faster. He followed me. And I growled. I couldn't endure this any

longer. My newly formed fangs brushed its way through.I dashed through the forest,

and finally, I'd lost him.

I was attracted to this sweet-smelling scent and I followed the trail to where they were

heading. I was hungered for blood, more and more!

Right at the bottom corner of a mountain, came a group of cattles. I was careful and

landed silently on my feet behind one of them. I pounced on it right before it could

start struggling to get away from my attack.

After seconds, it was lying flat on the ground.

I satisfied my appetite. That was when the scenes started to flash across my head.

Efferet was pleading me, and I didn't know how important I was to him until he'd said it

just half an hour ago? Was I what he wanted? Why? Everything looked so confusing

to me. He didn't appreciate what I've done for him previously, but why now? Until I've

almost attacked him?

Bits and pieces everywhere, I couldn't seem to put them into a picture. So many

questions, and I couldn't understand why. I couldn't look for him anymore. Even though

I've been bugging him before I was transformed into a vamp, I couldn't anymore!

My head hurts! Why is this so? Especially when I'm thinking of him. Every moment,

every memory of ours, seems to be wanting to get out of the brain but I'm forcing it so

much to stay!

"ARGGHHHH, EFFERET!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, with tears oozing out

at the corners of my eyes.

After a while, the rain finally came to a stop.
